Ralph (Plum) Peace died in 1921 as a young man in his family’s home in the Bottom. He burned to death after his own mother set him on fire. Plum was the son of Eva and brother to Hannah, Rekus, and Pearl. He was to only person ever to receive actual approval from Eva. As a child he was ill but received great care from his mother. She was very proud to have a son; that was however, until he was ruined by war. When Plum returned from his soldier duties, he was barely recognizable and addicted to heroin. Plum’s greatest contribution to his family was allowing them to see their mother in a new light, a darker light.
